Summary

Luke Edgar has had a legendary career in building lifestyle brands and keeping them not only relevant but in demand. What makes Luke’s story so wild is that while his history goes back to the early days of snowboarding, the reason he pursued a career in “action sports” is because he learned to surf while he was in the army. And when he got out, his life revolved around snowboarding when the sport was in its infancy in the PNW. On the podcast we talk about the early PNW snowboard scene, modeling, Craig Kelly, trade shows, getting sponsored, K2 and so much more. John O’Connor asks the Inappropriate Questions.

Welcome to the Powell Movement.

I'm your host Mike Powell, and if you noticed, the podcast is a little different this summer.

While the focus will always be about the mountains, I've definitely been getting out of my comfort

zone, and in the coming weeks, you're going to hear some more Wake, BMX, and business episodes

0:30.6

before I get back to what I know best, and that's snow. If you're like, I'm not listening to this

podcast to hear about bikers, well, know that all of these interviews are going to be really interesting and if they weren't, I wouldn't put them on the podcast.

And that's me trying to manage your expectations.

I know I haven't had a ski episode in a while and they return on September 2nd.

I have a great one for you then, but this week I'm back to a business episode

with another industry legend. Luke Edgar grew up in the Pacific Northwest and found snowboarding

in a roundabout way when it was in its infancy. And Luke's life and times grew with the sport.

Luke has an insane resume. And between K2, Atomic, Rosignol, Skull Candy, OGO, and Treger, Lucas had some

incredible jobs and we talk about them all. Actually, we only talk about a couple of them on this

1:18.2

episode, because Luke has done so much in his career and he's such a talker. And when I say he's such a

1:23.3

talker, Luke's one of those dudes that I can ask a question and he'll talk for like 10 or 15 minutes

1:28.4

and it's awesome and it makes for a great podcast. But if you're looking for me to pepper Luke with

1:32.8

different questions throughout his stories, well, that would make this a 10-part episode and I don't

1:37.0

have time to do that. But what I did do is I made this one a two-parter and I love it. I think you're going to love it too. But before we chat with Luke,

I want to ask you to do a few things for me. The first is to tell your friends about the show.
