Summary

Inappropriate Questions has been a staple of The Powell Movement podcast over the past couple of seasons. But did you know the show pre-dates TPM?  Years ago, I had a podcast with Powder Magazine called "Sponsored," and to build my own audience off that show, I created Inappropriate Questions as a stand-alone podcast and put it out on the TPM feed. When Powder killed the Sponsored pod, I pulled old IQ episodes off the internet, knowing I would create what you are listening to today. So please enjoy this special two-part episode, Inappropriate Questions from the Vault: The Sponsored Years

It's time to talk some shit on the Powell movement.

Welcome to the Powell movement.

0:17.1

I'm your host Mike Powell, and if everything went right, I'm back at my desk after 10 days of vacation while you're listening to this.

0:23.9

The plans of while I'm recording this are to fly to D.C. to do some uplifting things like see the Holocaust Museum and the Smithsonian.

0:31.0

Then, I will drink too many beers with my high school friends, wake up on Saturday, and head to Rahobith Beach, Delaware.

0:37.3

I'm pretty sure I've

0:38.1

told you many times how great I am at beach games. Ring toss and ski ball are staples in my life there,

0:43.8

and I've won 10 free ski ball games a day for life on multiple occasions on the boardwalk.

0:49.1

Unfortunately, the arcade where I won these 10 free games was purchased and the name changed,

0:56.8

and they don't honor my free ski ball for life games anymore.

1:03.3

Which I did the math around and if I lived at the beach and I lived till 70 years old and went every day to the arcade,

1:07.4

those 10 free games would be worth $15,000 by the time I died.

1:11.6

So it is worth a pretty penny and I feel like I've had them taken for me, but I'm not going to be pursuing any legal action about ski ball, because while I care about

1:16.3

it, I don't care that much. But what I'm best at the beach is Papa Shot, and I'm not

1:21.5

going to call myself unbeatable, because I've seen internet videos of people who are better

1:25.1

than me, and my cousin has beaten me once in the past 15 years, and I know he's pretty bummed on that. But on the boardwalk, I don't think

1:32.2

there are many people better. I'm the king. I usually set the high score in a game or two and can play

1:37.0

about seven games a day before my performance starts falling off because my arms get tired.

1:41.8

Really, what a loser I am. Like the best things I can do in life

1:45.6

are playing pop a shot and I can drink a beer really, really fast too. Those of you saw me do my

1:50.2

beer drinking challenges back during the pandemic can vouch for that. And if you're wondering,
