It's time to talk some shit on the Powell Movement.

Welcome to the Powell Movement.

0:17.1

I'm your host Mike Powell, and if you've been listening lately, you know I skipped Red Bull

0:21.6

Rampage but watched it on the internet and I hope you did too.

0:25.6

This was the 20th anniversary of the event and one thing that I noticed was that if you look

0:30.5

at the footage over the years, this has gone from an event with riders picking rowdy lines

0:35.1

that have features that you would never see in a slope-style event.

0:38.3

But every year that changes a bit.

0:40.3

And this year's event was the most insane year yet, but it was different.

0:44.3

I mean, while these guys are still using zero science or math in their builds,

0:48.3

they have gone from building raw lines that showed true control and mastery on a bike in variable conditions to manicure jumps

0:55.7

with as predictable landings as possible. And I don't mean to shit on Rampage at all, as it is the

1:00.7

best event in action sports. It's just the progression of this one is changing its course.

1:05.5

I really wonder what legendary founding father Josh Bender thought of the event this year.

1:10.0

But I wasn't there to chat with Josh, and I didn't see much with him in the coverage,

1:13.6

and maybe that's why I need to go back to Red Bull Rampage.

1:16.6

So there's someone there talking to all the riders, getting the content out right away.

1:21.6

That's important, and it's also important to have a different perspective on things.

1:24.6

Because I'm not a hardcore mountain bike guy,

1:27.7

I'm going to ask different questions and get something that every man wants to know,

1:31.2

not just the core rider. So maybe I'll go back next year. Who knows? But right now,
