Summary

If everything is based on talent, Lucas Wachs should be a household name in skiing. But in today’s world of professional skiing, talent is expected and for better or worse, self-promotion determines how far a pro will get to some extent. Lucas Wachs is one of those guys who isn’t comfortable promoting himself, he lets his skiing do the talking and its afforded him a 12-year career. While Lucas doesn’t make noise about his skiing, he’s the guy the other skiers are talking about and snowboarders recognize his talent too, including Max Warbington who asks the Inappropriate Questions.

0:23.6	Then a friend of mine invited me to go see the Grateful Dead in Los Angeles for Halloween weekend.
0:29.6	The last time I saw the Dead was with this same friend 25 years ago, and it was a crazy trip to the Meadowlands.

0:43.5	But I got tickets to a show at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., and since I was going to go

0:55.2	dead again a few days later up at the Meadowlands. And that was 1994, my first summer seeing the dead.
1:01.8	I had one more Grateful Dead experience a year later at their last Bay Area show at Shoreline Amphitheater,
1:07.4	and then Jerry died and so did my relationship with the dead. But anyways,
1:11.9	where I'm going with all of this is that while Yom Kippur happened last week, I'm passing over
1:17.3	Red Bull Rampage this year. And I know it's the most incredible event on the planet, but I've been
1:22.8	there a few times. And for me, I end up drinking way too much and stalking strangers who happen to be the best
1:28.8	bikers in the world who are focused on their lines, not on the interviews that I want to conduct.
1:33.5	And I could have done that again. But then I would miss a trip with a dear friend who I really
1:37.8	love seeing. And you know what? I've missed way too many personal trips for events like this in my life.
