Hello my friends welcome back to daily breath. I'm Deepak Chopra.

Our new series is called Total Meditation. Since we have no idea how thoughts are created in the first place, our understanding

of how they are remembered or forgotten lies shrouded in darkness.

This is where the Sanskrit term, Samskara, can be helpful.

Samskara refers to the impressions in consciousness that shape our actions.

So some SCARA is literally a virtual memory. You might say it's the memory that's there in consciousness

till you actualize it. So before you have a thought it exists as a potential thought.

Before you have a memory it exists as a potential thought. Before you have a memory, it exists as a potential memory.

Before you imagine something, it exists as a potential image

in the formless domain of pure consciousness.

So some scaras are actually invisible potentials

for thought, for emotion. for

for thought, for emotion, for any experience.

Some scarras can be qualities of expression

musical talent.

That would be a good,

Sonskara, anything that moves us in the direction of

creativity or evolution or love or compassion or joy or good health would be a good

tendency.

Sanscara shape our tendencies, our modes of knowing and imagination and memory.

And actually, Sanscara's are thought to be a result of interpretation of past experiences either individual or collective.
