Hello and welcome to day three of this 33 day preparation for total consecration to Jesus through Mary here on the Catholic Spouts podcast. We are in the first 12 days where we are

working to detach ourselves from the world and from sins that might have crept into our life.

We already talked about pride and the antidote, which is humility.

Today we're going to talk about greed.

So you probably know what greed is.

Greed is when we have an over attachment to material objects and money.

When we put too much focus there.

And the way that we know we have put too much focus there is when we focus more on that than on God and on other people.

When we spend so much time acquiring things we want, building up a big bank account, that we don't see the needs of other people.

And we know how important it is to see the needs of other people through a

powerful parable that Jesus told, well, he was here on earth. So again, Jesus taught primarily

through parables, and these powerful stories still remind us of truths that we can live out today. So in one parable, Jesus talked about

how the son of man would come in glory, and he would sit on his throne and all the nations of the

world would be gathered before him, and he would divide people onto his left and his right,

separate the goats from the sheep. And so in this parable,

he turns to the sheep and he says, come into my kingdom. He explains, for I was hungry and you gave me

food. I was thirsty. You gave me drink. A stranger and you welcomed me.
