Hello and welcome back. Today is day 29 in this 33-day preparation for total consecration to Jesus through Mary here on the Catholic Spouts podcast. We are talking about Jesus

in this section. We have already talked about Jesus as the Messiah,

Emmanuel, and the carpenter's son. Today, we are going to talk about Jesus as teacher. Now,

in the gospel, we very often hear the disciples refer to Jesus as rabbi, which is a Jewish term for teacher.

So let's think about how is Jesus a teacher?

Well, in the most obvious way, he's a teacher because he teaches.

Very often in the gospel, Jesus uses parables to teach.

Now, the parables can be a little bit confusing, and sometimes Jesus doesn't even explain them, but that's because parables are really deep lessons.

They're lessons that even now, all of these hundreds of years later, we can continue

to read and draw new lessons out of. So let's talk about one of the most popular parables,

and that parable is the parable of the Good Samaritan. So what basically happens in this parable

is that there is a traveler who is attacked and he all of his

his money all of his goods are robbed he is beaten and left for dead by the side of the road next comes a

jewish priest he walks by and doesn't do anything to help next comes another well-known jewish holy person who walks by and doesn't do anything to help. Next comes another well-known Jewish holy person who walks by and doesn't do anything to help.

And third comes by a Samaritan.

Samaritans were foreigners.

The Jews thought that they were horrible, that they, you know, were worthless than dirt, just horrible people.
