Hello and welcome back to this 33 day preparation for total consecration to Jesus through Mary here on the Catholic Sprouts podcast. Today is day 28. And we are in our final section

where we are talking about Jesus Christ, striving to get to know

him and to build a relationship with him so that we really can give our hearts totally to him.

Yesterday we talked about how Jesus is the Messiah and Emmanuel God with us.

Today we're going to talk about how Jesus is also the carpenter's son.

Now there is a story in the Gospels where Jesus has returned to his hometown.

He is preaching and working wonders.

And people are at first amazed, but then they stop themselves.

And they say, wait, wait, isn't this just Jesus?

Isn't he just the carpenter's son?

And with this little phrase, they totally dismiss him. He can't be knowing anything extraordinary.

He can't be anything special. He's just the carpenter's son. Now, this phrase is a really important

title for Jesus because it reveals to us his heart and also what is important to him.

So for a moment, let's go back to Jesus' birth.

If you remember, Jesus, of course, was born in Bethlehem, but when his parents arrived there

for the census, there was no place for them to stay.

So he was born in a barn or a cave,

a place where animals lived, a place that was dirty. So God of the universe, who can do anything,

who can make anything happened, who pulled the mountains out of the ground, who pushed back
