| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the 33-day preparation for total consecration to Jesus through Mary, right here on the Catholic Sprouts podcast. |
| 0:18.9 | Before we begin, let's pray. |
| 0:22.4 | In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Amen. |
| 0:26.9 | Mary, Mother of Jesus, be a mother to us now, and bring us to your son. |
| 0:34.3 | Amen. |
| 0:45.5 | Hello and welcome back. Today is day 25 of this 33-day preparation for total consecration to Jesus through Mary. In this third section, we are talking about Mary in |
| 0:51.1 | titles so that we can understand her better and the role that she plays |
| 0:55.0 | in bringing us to Jesus. Today we're going to talk about a title that might be a little bit |
| 1:00.8 | lesser known, but is still important. And this title is Mary, Star of the Sea. Star of the Sea. |
| 1:17.3 | Now, this title has so many rich pieces of history attached to it, |
| 1:26.5 | but it's a powerful symbol also for us, even if we don't go sailing very much. So if you think about those sailing, I think we understand a lot of the basic |
| 1:29.7 | concepts. And something that's difficult to do is to keep your boat moving in the right |
| 1:36.1 | direction at night, especially if there are storms or troublesome winds. It's hard to do that. And for centuries, sailors have been using the |
| 1:49.7 | stars to guide from, that they use those to keep track of which direction they're heading in. |
| 1:57.0 | And remember that our journey here on Earth, our life here is very short, and that we should be |
| 2:03.5 | always making sure that we are navigating ourselves toward Jesus. No matter what is going on, |
| 2:11.7 | even if we're dealing with something that is really hard, really painful, even if we're very busy or we're very alone or we've moved to a new |
| 2:22.2 | place, no matter what sort of storms we're dealing with, we still need to be navigating |
| 2:29.2 | ourselves toward Jesus. Now, God is so very good, and he understands that we can become scared, |
| 2:38.0 | we can maybe think ourselves unworthy, that we can hesitate approaching him. And so for that |
| 2:44.5 | reason, he has given us Mary. And the title, Mary Star of the Sea, reminds us that if we cling to her, if you can imagine being on a ship and the storm's raging, but the clouds part just a little bit, and you can see that star, that star you recognize. |
| 3:01.9 | And you know that if you just keep that in sight, that you will continue to head in the right direction, that you won't be thrown off course, that you won't be lost. |
