Hello and welcome to day one of this 33-day preparation for total consecration to Jesus

through Mary, right here on Catholic Sprouts.

Now, since we are following the plan laid out by St. Louis de Montfort for consecrating

ourselves to Jesus through Mary, we are going to start with 12 days where we work to prepare

ourselves by detaching ourselves from this world. Now, when we say that, detaching ourselves from this world,

we are talking about anything that has become a sin or even a distraction that keeps us from

Jesus, from loving our brothers and sisters, and from truly embracing our identity as

sons and daughters of God. So we have six big

sins that we're going to talk about. And then the day right after we talk about that specific

sin, we're going to look to Mary as an example for how to reject that sin or vice and instead live in virtue. So the first sin that we are going

to talk about today is the sin from which all other sins come and it is the sin of pride. Now, the sin of

pride can creep into our lives in lots of different ways.

But essentially, pride is when I believe that I don't need God, that I can take care of things all on my own.

Pride also likes us believe something really wrong, and that is that in some way I have achieved all of the gifts that I have, that nothing was given to me that I earned everything.

Of course, we know that this isn't true. The very life that we live, the breath in our lungs, our special skills and talents and preferences.

It was all written for us by our creator who created us with love.

But sin, the sin of pride, it forces us to forget God and instead only think about ourselves.
