it was It was not long after midnight, and the car was already moving farther and farther away from the safety of home.

Five young girls sat inside, one of them secretly hidden beneath a blanket, as the car passed through the quiet roads of southern Indiana, under a wide, indifferent night sky.

Inside the vehicle, something was beginning to fracture.

Strangely, most of the girls had only just met one another for the first time, but a plan, agreed upon by some, unknown to others,

was already well in motion. They drove for miles in almost complete silence, conversation sparse,

glances cautious, tension palpable, the atmosphere thick with unease and uncertainty, each mile creating

more distance between them and the lives they had left behind only minutes earlier.

Then, without warning, the night shifted. From beneath a blanket, in the back seat, a figure

suddenly emerged.
