My name is John, I'm an alcoholic, it's great to be here and see some of my old and young

friends and new friends and stuff like that.

Yeah, thanks for asking me. My name is John, I'm an alcoholic, I love AA.

I've loved it from the day and hour I've been in for some reason.

My sobriety date is the 25th of March 1977, I was 20, I was 29 years of age.

I was very good looking, I didn't think so at the time, I must tell you that is because

I said that today for the first time in all 40 years and I just remember the story I used to

tell of walking down Dublin Street in 1962 and I saw a reflection in a glass mirror, brown

Thomas, it was called very post shop, we were too poor to go into it but anyway and I saw this

reflection of an incredibly good looking young man with long hair and a duffel coat, the duffel

coat and I turned around to see who it was and it was me, it was me. You see, I saw myself as a

poison dwarf shuffling down that street, I was actually shocked when I saw myself, but that

instant saw myself is because I think a lot of alcohol is most alcohol and somebody type

to talk about, that sense of never fitting in, never being good enough, never being always

fitting a shame. That was a big portion of my life which I like to explain, I don't know where

that came from, but anyway, my first meeting of policemen brought me to alcohol, it's anonymous

following a fight in a bar, I say he was a good Samaritan, but the fight in the bar by the way
