So my name is Lauren, I'm an alcoholic and truly by the grace of God, I have been

sober since April the 6th of 1987, which means that in a couple of weeks God willing,

which God's willing, I don't know why we say God willing, God was always willing for

me not to drink.

I was the problem.

So assuming I don't screw anything up in the next couple of weeks, I will be celebrating

35 years the first week of April and I get very emotional about that.

It's a big number and I had a moment of awareness a couple of weeks ago that I'm sober

than, longer than the people who helped me when I came in and that's, I thought I would

be weller or I thought they were weller than I think I am now, I don't know, but I'm

extremely grateful for the life that I've been given an alcoholic synonymous and so it's

really a privilege to be able to give back in any capacity.

So step 11, it's a tough thing to just start there, so I'm just going to kind of back

it up just a hair and I, you know, in, in we agnostics, it talks about lack of power.

That was our dilemma and we had to find a power by which we could live and that that's

the main purpose of this book and for me, I had to come to understand that I had a spiritual

melody.
