| 0:00.0 | Welcome everyone to the score fantasy football podcast. I'm your host, Justin Boone, the lead fantasy analyst at The Score. Thanks for spending part of your Monday with us here. |
| 0:22.4 | And this week, things are a lot more relaxed, let's say, than they were last Monday. We had so many injuries to talk about on that show. We still have a bunch to go over, but it wasn't a crazy day injury-wise by any means. So we'll get you all caught up there. And then we'll discuss the top waiver ads heading into week eight, almost the halfway mark in the fantasy season. |
| 0:39.6 | But fortunately for you, no buys this week. So we got fewer injuries. We got no buys. Should in theory make this a good week for fantasy. But I'm not promising anything. I don't know where your team's at seven weeks into the season. Regardless, let's recap all the injuries from the weekend. And we'll start with quarterbacks. Jalen hurts. So he wasn't really moving like himself for a good chunk of that Sunday night game. He managed to get the Eagles the win, but he wasn't as quick out there. He was really taking a little longer to get up each time he went down. And when he came out after the half, he was rocking a big brace on his knee. knee so something clearly bothering him there but he played through it and I expect that |
| 1:14.4 | he's going to continue to play through it so I'm not really concerned might take a |
| 1:17.7 | little off the top of his projection for week eight but he should be able to move |
| 1:21.5 | the ball against Washington no problem especially I mean with all the talent they |
| 1:24.9 | have in that Eagles offense even if Hertz is a little bit downgraded himself, those other guys are going to help lift him up. So he remains an elite QB1 for fantasy. Just don't be surprised if he's limited or even misses a little bit of practice this week. Deshawn Watson on the Brown. So this one's a little harder to figure out because he took a big hit, he left the game, and we saw him on the sidelines. |
| 2:02.9 | He was standing there with his helmet, but he wasn't coming back in. And it was announced that he had cleared concussion protocol. And the game was a barn burner. So you would think that the Browns would want their starting quarterback out there, even though, I mean, he did look pretty bad in the early part of the game before he got hurt. But after the game, Kevin Stavansky said that he wanted to play it safe with Watson. |
| 2:01.3 | And remember, I mean, he was coming back from that shoulder |
| 2:05.4 | injury too. So Stavansky initially said that Watson will start in week eight. Now this afternoon, |
| 2:11.4 | he called Watson's shoulder injury day to day, which means this could go any number of ways, right? |
| 2:16.6 | It wouldn't surprise me if Watson starts in week eight, wouldn't surprise me if he's sitting out again. And at the moment, with Watson apparently less than 100%, I'm not sure that it even matters that much for fantasy when you're talking about the other guys in that offense. I think it would be harder for the other Brown's past catchers to pay off if you have PJ Walker under center instead of Watson. |
| 2:35.5 | But Watson certainly didn't look like he was going to put anybody over the top in fantasy during that game. So we're going to have to monitor it this week. If Watson does play, he'll be a QB2. If Walker gets the start, he'll be more of a risky streamer. And in that scenario, we would bump down the past catchers and the offense, just a little bit in the rankings, but probably not as much as you would think. On to running back. So Bejohn Robinson, this was one of the weirdest ones of the day, because he wasn't getting any touches early on. There was really no explanation for it in the first half. Some people were speculating like crazy online. In the end, turns out that he wasn't feeling well and that went all the way back to Saturday night. He said and not sure if it's an illness or if it was a migraine, but he said he was dealing with the headache. He tried to take some medicine Sunday morning. It didn't help him. So Arthur Smith just decided to limit Robinson's usage in the game, which that does sound plausible, but my only question then is why play him at all and why use him late in the game too, right? It's very, very odd, but it sounds like Robinson's going to be fine for week eight. The only problem in week eight is he's got to go up against that Titans run defense and Tennessee's going to be rested up coming off thereby. So not the best spot for the rookie, but he'll still be a top 15 fantasy play. And he does now have to deal with Tyler Alger, splitting some work and also potentially Cordell Patterson getting touches now because those two are the ones who stepped up with Bijinheurton in this game. Austin Echler, he might have another ankle injury. And it's not the same ankle as the one that he had the high ankle sprain with earlier in the season. That one caused him to miss about a month there. It was the other ankle this time. And it doesn't seem as bad, at least not initially, because he did come back into the game, but definitely something they're going to have to monitor in case it swells up over the next day or two here. Or in it's just worse than we realize sometimes that can happen with these ankle issues so Josh Kelly |
| 4:18.0 | not the most exciting fantasy ad because he really didn't do that much when |
| 4:22.2 | Echler was out before but Kelly did break a long run in this game he seems to do that |
| 4:26.8 | more often when Austin Echler is in the lineup versus when Austin Echler is out of |
| 4:30.2 | the lineup but he would be the back to roster if Echler misses any more time. Right now, I'm not projecting Echler to miss week eight, but he'll likely be limited or sit out some practices this week for sure. Back to the Browns, another running back injury for Cleveland, Jerome Ford. He's been handling the starting job there since Nick Chubb was out for the |
| 4:48.6 | season. And he ripped off a nice 69-yard touchdown run early in the game, but then he injured his |
| 4:54.0 | ankle and he was ruled out. And he was seen in a protective boot in a locker room after that |
| 4:58.7 | contest. We don't know if this is going to be a dreaded high ankle sprain or maybe the more |
| 5:03.8 | manageable low ankle sprain or maybe the more manageable |
| 5:04.3 | low ankle sprain, which could potentially allow him to play next week. |
