| 0:00.0 | Welcome everyone to the score fantasy football podcast. I'm your host, Justin Boone. We are back for another Tuesday episode here. But this isn't a regular Tuesday show. It's kind of more like part two from yesterday, because normally I would go over the injury roundup. I'd go over all the top waiver ads. I'd do that all together on Monday, but we just had so many injuries to cover that I had to make the call and I had to turn it into two separate episodes. So today we're going to be talking about the top waiver pickups and it's a pretty good week for the waiverware there's lots of names that i'm interested |
| 0:41.7 | in picking up anyway and you might already know that because you might have checked out my week |
| 0:46.0 | seven waiverware column that went up on monday night and because we're doing this on tuesday |
| 0:50.4 | it's kind of weird normally this episode would go before that waiverware column call them but you've already gotten spoiled on all the top pick up so |
| 0:57.0 | hopefully check that out if you haven't definitely go check it out it has like 50 |
| 1:01.0 | plus players that I cover I break it down into a bunch of different categories you |
| 1:04.5 | know depending what you might need this week depending how deep your league is and I |
| 1:08.6 | got you covered I talk about guys who are around that 50% rostered mark all the way down to players who aren't rostered in any leagues. But for the WaiverWire show, we're just going to stick to the main pickups. And I'll tell you how I'm approaching each position before you have to lock in those waiver claims tonight or Wednesday night in some leagues, which I actually think is kind of the better date to do it. But it's okay. Most of the leagues I'm in are still Tuesday anyway, so what can you do? Before we get to that, though, I do want to mention again that this is just a killer week for buys. There's six teams on by the Panthers, Bengals, Cowboys, Texans, Jets, and Titans. And when you combine that with all the injuries that we talked about yesterday, it's going to be a tough week set in your fantasy lineups. But we're going to see if the WaverWire can help here. So let's start with quarterbacks. And there's one name that just stands out way ahead of the rest in terms of QB streamers this week. And this guy might be worthy of every week fantasy starter status, to be honest. And spoiler, we've talked about him. |
| 2:18.2 | The last three weeks in a row is the best quarterback pickup on the Waverwire show. It's Sam Howell on the commanders. And he's not playing the best football that you've ever seen, but all we care about is whether he's getting it done for fantasy. And he is. He's QB 13 or better in five of his six games this year. He finds a way to produce whether it's rushing a little bit or this week he had three passing |
| 2:21.9 | touchdowns despite having kind of low yardage in that game and now he gets a |
| 2:25.6 | Giants defense who just lost a really tough one to my bills on Sunday night so |
| 2:30.1 | how is by far the best option out there if you need a quarterback. After him gets kind of ugly. And it's so ugly that the next best option might be whoever's starting for the Giants. And it's probably going to be Tyrod Taylor, since the quotes that we're hearing about Daniel Jones makes me a little bit worried about that neck issue, that this could be more of a long-term thing. That's not for sure. That's me just speculating. But Tyrod, aside from that failed audible at the end of the first half that Brian Dable definitely made him hear about, a Tyrod was pretty composed. He played pretty well in that game against the bills. And he's always been a decent NFL quarterback. I would say he's an above average starter for sure. but the Giants are going against the commanders, and they're giving up the fourth most fantasy points to quarterbacks this year. So Tyrod is a possibility if Jones remains out. If Jones plays, then he would be the guy that I would mention in that spot. Then you have some of the injured guys too, like Jimmy Garoppolo with the back issue. |
| 3:28.6 | He would get the Bears defense this week, but it's kind of sounding like he's going to miss a game. |
| 3:30.7 | Baker Mayfield with the hand injury. |
| 3:32.5 | Seems like Mayfield's going to be fine. |
| 3:35.9 | He should be able to go against the Falcons, but he's still a risky streamer. |
| 4:36.1 | And then after that, it's guys like Josh Dobbs at Seattle and Derek Carr versus the Jags and Kenny Pickett at the Rams, Desmond Ritter taking on the bucks. You don't feel great about any of those options. And if you're in a deeper league, if you're a little more desperate, we're going a little further down here, you could look to some of those injury replacement guys. So Aidan O'Connell, if he gets the start with Jimmy G. If Jimmy G. can't play against the Raiders. A Tyson Baygeon, we talked about him yesterday. He's stepping in for Justin Fields. The two rookies are going to have to face each other on Sunday, but they're more 2 QB or Superflex plays for fantasy. And then if you're in one of those deep 2QBer Superflex leagues, you might want to think about stashing one of the Titans backups, whether it's Malik Willis or Will Levis or both of them. We don't know who's going to get the start in week eight. Certainly doesn't seem like it's going to be Ryan Tannahill due to that injury. So you're going to have those two young quarterbacks compete in practice over the next couple weeks. Whoever wins that, they might get at least one or possibly a few starts might even be the tight and start of the rest of the season, to be, depending how bad that Tannihill injury |
| 4:39.8 | turns out to be. You could also consider stashing the Patriots backup. So Mack Jones, he's |
| 4:45.9 | probably not going to hang on to that job much longer. I mean, maybe he'll pull out of this, but you have to be worried based on what we've seen so far. So Malik Cunningham, he got signed to the main roster last week, but there's also been reports that Will Greer, he could be the guy that gets a chance if Jones is benched. I'm not sure I'd feel great about any of them, but that's just why I'm mentioning them as deep, you know, 2QB or super flex format kind of stashes. Enough about the quarterbacks, though. All right, over to running backs. This is where the fun is this week. So we have the guys who are close to or over that 50% rostered mark that are kind of just hanging around that area. And they're guys that I've written about before they should already be rostered in your league but if they aren't |
| 5:23.9 | make sure that Rocheon Johnson and Tajay Spears and Zach Charbonnet and |
| 5:28.6 | Jeff Wilson and Julio McLaughlin make sure all those guys have homes they should |
| 5:33.1 | not be floating out there on any waiver wires then we have the guys who are |
