| 0:00.0 | Welcome, everyone to the score fantasy football podcast. |
| 0:16.9 | I'm your host, Justin Boone, the lead fantasy analyst at the score. |
| 0:20.3 | We are back after the weekend. |
| 0:22.3 | Another round of NFL action, almost in the books here. We still got two games to go, though, on Monday night. So we've got Browns and Steelers, Saints and Panthers, a little bit of a different scenario. We're going to have the same thing in week three, too. They're going to do two Monday night games then. It's just something that they're trying. and I kind of hope that it becomes a regular thing in future seasons. |
| 0:38.8 | I want to see them do this every single week. |
| 0:40.6 | But you know the drill on Mondays here. We're going to be going over the new injuries that we got over the weekend and how they might change things for your fantasy teams moving forward. And then we're going to talk about the top waiver ads heading into week three. And I know I did the big takeaways episodes after week one. That was just to reassess the fantasy landscape because we finally had actual games to analyze. I'm not going to be doing that today. That's just going to be a week one thing every season. But I will be diving a little bit deeper into that kind of stuff on Tuesday show. So you can come back for that one. And I'm not really sure what form it's going to take yet, but I'm going to be talking |
| 1:12.6 | through some things that we learned after week two there. For now, I want to get you caught up on all these injuries first. And we had a few key fantasy players that got hurt. We got some other guys who were banged up that maybe you didn't even notice. So let's start with the running backs because Sequin Barclay, he hurt his ankle again. |
| 1:28.9 | And it's the same ankle that he's had problems with in past. didn't even notice. So let's start with the running backs because Sequin Barclay, he hurt his |
| 1:27.9 | ankle again. And it's the same ankle that he's had problems with in past years. You hate to |
| 1:33.1 | see him dealing with that, especially because he was having a monster game, 23 touches, 92 yards, |
| 1:39.2 | two touchdowns. And then he gets injured, has to be helped off the field. He wasn't really putting |
| 1:44.0 | any weight on it. |
| 2:03.2 | Apparently, according to the team, he avoided a major injury. So no breaks, I'm guessing, which likely means that it's a sprain. And now we'll have to wait to figure out if it's a low ankle sprain. Is it a high ankle sprain? We know the high ankle sprains. They're the concerning ones. That could keep them out for a few weeks. that might even sap his effectiveness when he does return to the field. |
| 2:37.4 | And then the other thing to note here is that the Giants are on a short week. So they're playing the 49ers on Thursday night. That's a bad matchup. And that's not a lot of time to get right here. So an ankle injury on a short week, going up against one of the best defenses in football, not great news for Barclay. And the Giants, they don't have like a perfect replacement on the roster either. Matt Brayda is the immediate backup, but Brada really hasn't been productive with his touches in a while. And even in a revenge game against the Niners here, I wouldn't want to trust him in my lineup. And behind Brayda, you're looking at Gary Brightwell and the rookie Eric Gray. |
| 2:41.7 | And Gray might be the most intriguing of that bunch, but it doesn't seem like he's done enough to earn a significant role yet. |
| 2:43.5 | So the Giants, they might sign somebody. |
| 2:45.7 | If Barkley's going to be out for a few games, I would think that they'll at least look at |
| 2:49.2 | the free agent options. |
| 2:50.3 | And it's the usual list there, right? Leonard Fournett and Kareem Hunt and Kenyon Drake and Daryl Henderson. But whether or not the team's going to reach out to any of them, that's probably going to depend on Barclay's diagnosis. And Brian Davel, he didn't really have an update on Monday afternoon. He said that Barclay is still being evaluated and that any injured player on a short week is probably going to be a game time decision. So wish we would have got a little bit more there. I probably won't be going near this backfield with Barclay out unless we're talking about really deep leagues. That's just to give you an idea of my level of confidence in his backups. But you could stash some of those veteran free agents. |
| 3:24.5 | That would be an option or in the deep leagues grabbing somebody like Eric Gray and seeing if he can |
| 3:29.3 | turn into anything. But you're just kind of throwing darts at it at that point. The other big |
| 3:33.7 | running back injury, David Montgomery on the Lions, he got carted to the locker room during |
