On Friday, April 30, 1993, 19-year-old Monica Selleish took to the tennis court in Hamburg, Germany,

to play a quarterfinal match versus Magdalena Muleva.

The teenage tennis sensation, who was currently number one

atop the women's standings, won the first set, 6-1, and was leading in the second, 4-3,

toweled off, and then leaned forward to take a sip of water. She says the water had barely touched

her lips when she felt a horrible pain in her back, which caused her to let out a startled yelp.

His arms were raised above his head and his hands were clutching a long knife.
