What do you think about the Laker team now?

0:03.0

You follow the box scores of the games every day?

0:06.0

Just the Lakers.

0:07.0

You're kidding.

0:08.0

That is really a compliment.

0:10.0

I was pleased to see you smile at the top bar show because once the game starts, you have a game face.

0:17.0

You don't smile much out there.

0:20.0

I don't think you have to do things for money anymore.

0:22.9

Correct.

And we have not discussed the other movement, the other teams in the Western Conference

0:32.7

over the course of this summer. So we're going to do that a bit today. It was an eventful

0:37.4

Western Conference last year. And I think the to do that a bit today. It was an eventful Western Conference

0:38.5

last year, D. And I think the West is in a spot where there are several teams that are fairly

0:43.2

close together and that, you know, the breaks that you make, both for yourself and then the

0:49.2

ones that come along that you have no control over are going to determine a ton. But I'd really

0:54.0

And so I'd love to start with the team that won the West, at least in the playoffs, the Dallas Mavericks. So they were the fifth seed. They were around our level for a good portion of the year before the deadline hanging out right around

1:11.1

the play and threshold and all of that. And then they made these two deals at the deadline,

1:15.7

separate deals for Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington. In some ways, they are an aspirational

1:21.1

team, I think, for this Lakers season that I think one of the best versions of this year is,

1:26.0

hey, Lakers get their act together, which the Mavericks did not have the year before, and they're playing well, make a couple moves at the deadline. All of a sudden, you're a good team that can really make a push. They lose Derek Jones, Jr., and they replaced him with Clay Thompson, who the Lakers pursued and did not get. I didn't love that move for them while loving that loop move for the Lakers, which sounds like a

1:46.6

total homer thing, but that isn't really where I come from on that D's.
