amazing new book second-class Saints Black Mormons and the Struggle for Racial Equality.

I've said in previous podcasts, for me,

this is one of the top three most important books

to read ever written on Mormon history, specifically if you want to understand either

the priesthood and temple ban on black members but even more interestingly

for some the inner workings of how Mormon church leadership in the

20th century and I would argue 21st century make decisions who knew what when how

they handle scandal how they handle disagreements in the quorum, how they handle

dissenters, how they make decisions, to what extent public pressure impacts decisions, how they punish people who speak out.

But this book is brilliant.
