things we um crush them together and make them into a uh a delicious milkshake of pop culture that

we slowly slurp together at least that's how that's how i kind of like to think of it right i mean

the the entire purpose

of me doing this podcast was to share my experiences as I encountered comic books and how they grew

and evolved over the years, pulling my first comic books off the spinner rack in the early 70s,

1974, exactly. I know that sounds like the age of the stage coach to many of you

or the Pony Express, but I assure you there were automated cars, just not a whole lot of computers yet.

Color TVs were just kind of starting to be a thing. Yes, I'm that old and I've been digging this stuff

for that long and I have watched it become the soup de jour, if you would, of our culture and

our society. It blows my mind that comic book, superheroes, supervillains, characters,

graphic novels are being consumed in the way

they are in the culture right now and how many titles and characters are in the process of being

adapted. Some of my own, some of my friends, some long-standing characters that were never more than

like B or C-list characters. And I'll go there. I'll tell you right now. Loki was not a

A-list character in the Marvel University at any time. Thor was, Thor was an A-list character.

Loki was his chief rival, but Loki didn't really

move the needle in regards to comic books. And he was a great foil, but I wouldn't even put him

in the top five Marvel villains of my entire youth in terms of collecting. That would go to

Dr. Doom, that would go to Dr. Octopus, that would go
