Hey there, everybody, and welcome back to the plant path.

0:14.0

So last week I did a discussion on this concept of the spring cleanse.

0:21.2

And it's talking about a little bit as to whether it's really an appropriate thing for

0:27.2

us to do in our modern culture in that most of us these days don't really live, I might

0:34.8

say more of a traditional lifestyle where we're, you know, growing our own food

0:41.0

and eating locally and seasonally.

0:43.9

And, you know, the global globalization of food and distribution and things like that has

0:50.4

made it so that we can, many of us can eat relatively fresh food throughout all seasons.

0:58.5

But a lot of you were interested to learn a little bit more about this concept of the

1:04.9

spring cleanse. And while I mentioned some of the overarching qualities and characteristics of

1:10.4

verbs that would fit into this category, I didn't really get into some of the overarching qualities and characteristics of herbs that would fit into this

1:11.8

category. I didn't really get into some of the specific herbs. So I wanted to take some time

1:19.0

and spotlight my top three favorite spring tonic herbs. So as I mentioned last week, and if you all didn't see that video,

1:32.0

be sure to check that out. The link will be in the description below for a little bit more

1:36.7

general information about the spring cleanse. But the general category of herbs that we want to be considering here are going to be those that are mild alternative type remedies and the nutritive tonics.

1:55.0

And the reason these are, this is the way I tend to think of it. The reason these are the two primary categories that we

2:01.2

want to consider is because as winter progresses, we, and especially as people lived more

2:09.8

traditional lifestyle, they're going to tend to accumulate things throughout the winter. They're

2:15.9

going to accumulate dampness. They're going to accumulate cold.

2:19.3

Things are going to tend to stagnate and slow down and get stuck in their GI and their liver and their extracellular fluids.

2:28.3

They're just going to kind of accumulate some toxicity throughout the winter.

2:33.3

And when I say toxicity, I don't necessarily mean, you know, pesticides and things like that.
