We're officially halfway through the year, and at this point in time, it felt like the proper time to give you guys our mid-year lists for not only the best rap songs of 2025 so far, which we'll be doing today, but also next Tuesday will be time for us to deliver our lists on our top 10 rap albums of 2025 so far.

But yeah, man, listen, it's been an interesting year for hip-hop.

Obviously, within the mainstream, very quiet.

There hasn't been many major releases besides Playboy

Cardi's music, Mac Miller's balloonerism. You could say you could find some mainstream hip-hop

records off of some sexy songs for you and a couple of others. But I think that was the biggest

change within my list this year compared to others. It's just like how much I pulled from the

underground scene more than ever before. I'm going to be honest with you, looking at this year,

I feel like it's probably been one of the most, I would say, less obvious years for certain

picks and placements. Because when you look at the mainstream, which did comprise a lot of my list

last year, right? Like, we don't trust you was out. Blue Lips was out, we had a new Vin Staples album to look at. It was a

pretty hot year to start off, right? So there was a lot of material to look at with this.

I mean, mainstream releases, where did you get music? I don't have any music selections today.

None. I don't have any from Playboy Cardi. Realistically, most of my list is comprised of different underground selections, different

shit that I fuck with.

And as I said, even going back to 2022, I was explaining this in a live stream.

Back in 2022, when you had that run of it's almost dry, you had had the new KDOT album,

you had new Denzel Curry, there were certain placeholders within those albums.
