Tom versus the JLA, number 257, or when are we going to start killing some of these characters?

Welcome back for Justice League of America, number 257, the December 1986 issue in title of

Coming Down, written by J.M. DeMateau, pencil by Luke Macdonnell, inked by Bob Smith, colored by

Shelly Elber, letter by Albert T. Guzman, edited by Andrew Helfer,

featuring a cover by Luke MacDonald. We finally reached the end of this interminably long story

involving the Yuppie Adam. You might remember him as the finely dressed motivational speaker

out to grab his attention's magical powers. He accomplishes it. He becomes godlike. Blows his mind and he

starts acting crazy. So that's where we start off this issue. Martian Manhunter and the lonely

streetwalk and runaway Pamela Cross with the emaciated and crazed body of Adam as

Martian Manhunter has to act as anchor to Adam as Zatanna and Gypsy have

gone into his mind. But remember, Gypsy and Zatana were overcome by demons and dragged under

some sort of murky, mind liquid conveniently in a matter of which we can understand. Well, Zatanna climbs her way out rather forebodingly, I have to say.

A little dark night returns,ish, in her prevail, she emerges from the guck.

And then, only after she gets out of there, does she remember that Gypsy came with her in there?

She throws together some magical spells in Gypsy lives right

out of the demon muck. Zatana, a lot of internal monologue in this section. As we see her,

think that maybe the reason she brought Gypsy with her was to show Gypsy that there wasn't anything left of Adam to save

and that maybe Adam deserved whatever he got.

So is the chance being a little bit of guilt about what's going on, as she should, as she should later, as well.

At this point, we come back to Martian Man, Enterian Pamela. Pamela's freaking out,

normal runaway girl. Martian Manor is kind of a little rude to her telling her she's starting to sound hysterical.
