Tom versus the JLA number 174 or hey look the B plots all grown up.

Welcome back for Justice League of America number 174, the January 1980 issue. Yes, we've entered the 80s.

It is entitled A Plague of Monsters, written by Jerry Conway, art by Dick Dylan and Frank McLaughlin Letters by Todd Klein, Jerry Serp the Colors, Andrew, the Editor, and another magnificent cover by the Magnificent Dix, Dylan and Geradano.

There's some giant mutant rats on the cover of it, some Justice Lakers fighting those rats.

We start off with our B plot from the last issue, the regulator, attacking the Star Labs in Metropolis.

We find out that he is one Mr. Barnumus Bolton, who used to work at Star Labs with one of the other scientists who he's currently attacking with a plague of rats.

Turns out Bolton got put into the

mental institution because of a quote unquote nervous breakdown. Those are his quotes that his

fellow scientist and his wife committed him. Yeah, on Valentine's Day as I'm recording this,

it's painful to think that your wife would commit you to a mental

asylum. Just because a helmet you created that controls rats and vermin are driving you, is driving

you insane. I think true love can see past a type of thing. And that's right, Mr. Bolton created a

helmet that controls rats and vermin,

which he was going to use to help clean up suicide slum.

He is a man of the people and cares for the poor people of the world.

His big plan in tagging the Star Labs is he wants to mutate the rats.
