Tom versus the JLA number 173 or trust me,

the Justice League is safe if you catch my drift, wink, wink.

Welcome back for Justice League of America number 173,

the December 1979 issue called Testing of a Hero,

written by Jerry Conway, art by Dick Dylan and Frank McLaughlin,

Ben O to the letter, Jerry Serp the Color, Siras, Andrews, the editor,

with a cover by The Magnificent Dix, which features a female guerrilla warrior.

But that's not even the best part of the cover.

The best part is Black Lightning, calling to JLA, a bunch of jive turkeys,

both a fun and embarrassing cover to put on something.

This issue is going to be interesting because while Conway and Andrew obviously are pushing

the Justice League into issues that perhaps comic books in the Bronze Age

weren't quite ready to deal with, especially DC Comics.

They do it good up to a point, and then they kind of fuck themselves over, which is what

I love about the Justice League of America is whenever they try and get to issue

oriented in news they get they they have a good idea and then they do something that just kind

of puts it right over the edge but we'll get to that in a minute it's not even the obvious

thing that you think of so we open up with the Justice League.
