Tom versus the Flash, showcase number 13, or Here's My Wife and Meet My Three Lovely Children, Krypton, Radon, and Argon.

Welcome back for Showcase number 13th in April 1958 issue, sporting a cover with pencils by Carmen Amphantino and inks by Joe Giella.

First story is Around the World in 80 Minutes written by Robert Cannigar.

We start this issue with Barry taking Iris on a date to a movie Around the World and 80 days.

There's a little bit of banter about how long it would take the flash to run around the world.

Barry's evasive. Iris rips into him

about being slow. I just wish Iris would give us a reason why Barry likes her so much, but it just

seems like she's harping on him about his slowness constantly. Back at Barry Allen's police lab

the next day, we see that he's been working on the radio detector that he uses to pick up police signals.

He's perfected it to the point where he's picking up signals from other countries.

Not only is he picking up signals from other countries, but he happens to be lucky enough to pick up signals where the foreign police officers are speaking in English all the time.

Or a mix of their native language in enough

English so we know that it's really from that country. It's amazing. These foreign police officers

are always speaking in English. Well, Barry picks up an alert from France where some sort of

madman is threatening the Eiffel Tower, generally just doing some French villain shit.

Problem is, he's got a date with Iris in 80 minutes, but he figures, I'm the world's fastest

man, I can take care of this before I got my date with Iris. He pops the ring, throws it on,

starts flying through Central City, cuts through the Plaza Fountain area, where Iris is taking

photos for an article she's writing about the fountain.

This is where they're going to meet in 80 minutes as well. And we get a scene that is, I believe, played homage to in the New Frontier where the flash runs by super fast and gives Iris a kiss on the cheek so fast that she doesn't realize what's going on.

She is shocked that it just seems to be windy right by her.
