Tom versus the Flash number 278, or the first thing I'm going to give up when I get super strength, using doors.

Welcome back for the Flash number 278 October 1979, issue featuring a cover by Dick Giordano, with the issue being edited by Ross Andrew.

Our story in this issue is Road to Oblivion, writer Carrie Bates, artist Alex Savick, Inker, Frank Taramonte, letter,

Milton, nilts, Nassau. I love the caption on the first page as you see the flash running through

it looks and it's explained as an animal preserve pattern after the Australian outback and by the, we know what that means, Captain Boomerang. But there's a great caption saying that the Flash has come to peace with the idea of Iris's death. That's good. It's been a couple issues. PCP has run through his system. He's finally got himself together, but he's going to find Iris's killer, follow every clue no matter where it goes.

Though I have to say, there's really strong evidence that Clive Yorkin was involved with it,

but the Flash is going to follow every possible lead he has,

which is why he's in this animal preserve modeled after the Australian Outback,

chasing down two boomerangs that are carrying necklaces. So of course Captain Boomerang

is involved. And of course Captain Boomerang would put his hideout in an Australian preserve,

a preserve modeled after Australia in Central City. It's great. The realtors for these rogues,

they really, they know how to really hit those niche areas that

these guys like. So we see the boomerang zip past a koala, hit the ground, and the section of the

ground where the boomerangs hit, it lowers. It's right. It's a platform that descends silently

down to the hidden layer of Captain Boomerang. So he picks up the necklaces. They're these very rare scarlet, crimson pearl necklaces that every criminal in town wanted, but Captain Boomerang has beat them to it. Of course, he doesn't realize the flash has traced it all the way here, and the flash vibrated his way down to the layer. He's got the drop on Captu Bumran, Captain Bray.

He's like, ah, you got me? I know from experience, I can't beat you at this point. Gets up from his chair, but the chair is completely made from boomerang. Well, not completely. Like the armrest and the backrest is all boomerang. So when he gets up, they start flying at the flash. Oh, God.

You gotta love the dedication to the boomerang thing.

But these boomerangs, they start flying at the flash. Oh, God, you got to love the dedication to the boomerang thing.

But these boomerangs, they're not just, like, explosive ones coming at the flesh.

Now, no.

Two of them set up electrofields, which kind of looks like fire that are encircling the flesh, carrying 5,000 volts.

And then impresses the flash a little bit.
