Thomas the Flash number 270 or let's get heroin involved. Welcome back for the Flash number

270, the February 1979 issue, feature cover penciled by Rich Buckler, inks by Dick Giordano,

and edited by new Flash editor Ross Andrew. That's right. The same Ross Andrew,

who replaced Carmine Infantino on pencils way back in the day.

So Ross Andrew likes to step into large shoes when it comes to the flash, and you will notice

a change in tone immediately in this book with Ross Andrew taking over the editorial chores.

So let's get to the story. A Fast Way to Die, written by Carrie Bates, pencil by Irvnovick, inked by Frank McLaughlin,

lettered by Ben Oda, and colored by Gene G. Angelo.

We begin with a very different sort of take on the flesh.

The Julie Schwartz, Silver Age type stuff always had like a crazy front splash page that

showed something going on, like, oh, how are we going to get to this situation?

Based very much on the traditional method of how they'd come up with stories where they really

thought of the covers first and then built the stories around the rest of it.

This is a little bit different of an intro as we see captions of the flash running through

India, running through the Sahara Desert, running across the Atlantic Ocean, running

across Virginia, all in the span of minutes, Seeing the flash running towards Central City on his way home

to get a wonderful Western omelet that Iris is so famous for making. He likes to get out and jogging

in the morning and wake up an appetite, but as he's running through Central City, he does see something

quite crazy at the Central City Museum. A man in a clown suit is hopping

away on a pogo stick while a bunch of cops point and laugh at him yelling for the Flash

to help. You see, this clown has stolen a rare coin collection. And luckily, the Flash just happens

to be by, the cops see him, yell for him. Flash is a little bit pissed because it blows his element of surprise against this clown, so he's just going to have to make him. The clown, of course, heard the Flash's name turns around in what kind of, it's obviously an evil clown. It's a central city, and that's his gimmick. He's a clown. He picks up his pogo stick and it's got a rocket on it.
