Welcome back to the flash number 269 to January 1979 issue, featuring a cover pencil by

a rich buckler, inked by Dick Girodano and edited for the last time by Julie Schwartz.

That's right, Julie Schwartz, who had edited the Flashbook, the Flash

Stories. Going back, he worked on it in the Golden Age, but he worked on the Barry Allen series

all the way from Showcase number four to this point for 22 years, I believe. I should really

know that. So over two decades, he had edited all the flash stories. And this is the final issue

that Julie Schwartz will be editing. And in a way, it's a throwback to a lot of the classic

flash stories. You got time travel, you have dinosaurs, kid flashes in it. It's very exciting.

And it's sort of the closing of a chapter in the history of the flashbook. And our story is, of course, called

Domain of the Dark-Eyed Dragons, written by Carrie Bates, pencil by Irv Novick, inks by Frank

McLaughlin, lettered by Ben Oda, colored by Gene D'Angelo. We begin. Chapter 1,

it's divided up into chapters, just like the stories used to be in the old days. We are at

Central City Hospital, a young woman in a coma, a like the stories used to be in the old days. We are at Central

goatee doctor. This doctor has what I would consider a villain's go-toe. Very dark, very menacing.

He's very negative. This is Gail Manners, daughter of Doctor Manners. Now, this name might be familiar to you.

It's familiar to me.

The Flash and Kid Flash have encountered them before, but we'll get to that in one second.

Right now we have Dr. Manners who does not write a advice column, though he should for the picture news.

He is simply just one of those guys who goes around the world looking for stuff from what I can tell. The doctor is saying there's no cure. We don't know what's going on. Dr. Manners says, like, we're going to figure something out. I'm not going to quit. I'm not going to allow my daughter to stay in this coma. Also, at the hospital, wandering around the waiting room, Wally West. Kid Flash, just as Wally West. See, he's good friends with Gail Manners,
