Welcome back for the Flash number 264, the August 1978 issue featuring a cover penciled by Joe Staten with inks by Frank J.C.O., with issue being edited by Julie Schwartz.

Our story in this issue is The Golden Glider's Final Fling, written by Carrie Bates, with pencils by Kurt Schaffenberger or Schafferberger. I'm not sure which one it is. If you're not familiar with his art style, it's not more cartoony. It's more Lois Laney and Jimmy Olsony, if you know what that means, because that's what he's

more famous for. Kurt Schaffenberger, much more well known for his work on the Superman family

books. He drew Lewis Lane. He drew Jimmy Olson. He's drawn Supergirls stories back in the day. He

did some Shazam stories. He's got a pretty light style, but I really think it actually matched

the Flash really well. And I kind of wanted to see more Kurt Schaffenberger after this story.

D'Angelo. We begin this story. Police Commissioner of Central City looking at a costume

of the Flash, holding a tape containing the Flash's resignation. That's right, he's quit,

beat down by the man, having his wife stolen, having the love of the city stripped from him. The

flesh can no longer handle it. The commissioner surprised what's going on.

They play the tape.

And the message comes across from the flash.

I forgot last time I read this.

I forgot to do the Flash as fake voice.

Accept this uniform as a guarantee.

I will never appear on your streets again.

It's not easy to admit, but nobody gets to be a Flash forever.

The time has finally come for me to step down and let a younger man like the ringmaster take my place.

It's the flash's secret voice that he hides.
