Welcome back for the Flash number 224, the November, December, 173 issue, featuring a cover by Nick Cardi with the entire issue being edited by Julie Schwartz.

The first story in this issue is The Fastest Man Dead,

written by Carrie Bates, pencil by Irv Novick, inked by Dick Giordano.

We start in Central City Park, so you know nothing good is going to happen.

Bad things happen in this park.

Terrible things, people will be in danger. There seems to be some sort of political rally going on. And at attendance, of course,

are the Allens, because the man speaking to the giant crowd is the candidate for district

attorney, Charlie Conwell, a former co-worker and friend of Barry Allen. Lots of bad things

happen to Barry Allen's friends as well. Combination of the park, his friend, this is not going to go

well, as you can tell by the cover as well. So Mr. Conwell's given a big speech. He's getting

everyone fired up because he's made a promise that if he's district attorney, he's going to break up the Maxel mob, which apparently just is driving everyone crazy because everyone goes nuts. A couple of questions. Number one, how do people take elections in Central City seriously when not all that long ago, a gorilla ran for governor. Just saying?

Number two, I like the human, just normal DA is just sort of aiming to stop crime by other

normal people. There's no reference to the rogues. He can't do anything about the rogues.

It's part of the tourism there. He's just going to focus on a

normal mob. So as he gives his speech, something catches Barry's vision, just in the corner,

a peripheral vision. He sees a bullet as he turns on to look at Charlie Conwell, moving

incredibly fast. The speed, of course, of a bullet. What other speed would it be going at? It's

from a sniper rifle,

and the flash's sped up speed has been able to pick it out before the noise even hits them.

He realizes he's got to move right now if he's going to save Charlie Conwell from getting shot.
