Tom versus Aquaman and Aquaman number 30 or a nefarious brigadoon?

Welcome back for Aquaman number 30.

The November, December, 1966, issued,

a cover by Nick Cardi with issue being edited by George Cashton.

And our Aquaman story is The Death of Aquaman, written by Bob Haney featuring art by

Nick Hardy, and I love the cover to this.

I just, I like the whole look of it.

It's just a great cover, you know, with the black around the name and the funeral procession,

how sad metamorpho looks.

It's great.

I just love these old covers like this. Well, how do we get to this?

With Aquaman's body being carried through the streets by the Justice League. It all begins with a strange set of sea

structures on a long flat plane under the ocean. Looks like circus tents and mushroom type things and

people screwing around in Scooby Gear. What is this?

It appears to be a village.

Aquaman, Aqualad, swimming towards it, are discussing this outcropping of buildings and all these people around.

It is Ocean Colony Alpha.

Aquilad rags on it a bit saying it's not as great as Atlantis, but Aquaman says it's mankind's future,

as mankind is quickly depleting the surfaces, the resources of the surface world, and eventually

they'll have to actually live under the sea, just like the Atlanteans. And it's all an experiment.

But it is the future of mankind. Everyone's going to be living under the ocean, and Aquaman's going

to be the king of everyone. That's just inevitable. He wins through attrition, people. Aquaman runs finally to the professor in charge of Ocean Colony Alpha, Professor Larcher. He's out, he's tilling the undersea land. They're going to plant, I guess, probably kale. kale grows underwater, right? Cale's like a seaweed thing. Is it? Am I wrong? It's not, right?
