Welcome back for Aquaman and Adventure Comics number 252 to September 1958.

With the issue being edited by Mort Wisinger, our Aquaman story is the Robinson Crusoe of the Sea. Written by Jack Miller, featuring art by Ramona Frayden. We begin with disaster striking a cargo ship, or to be more precise, a cargo ship striking disaster, as they have hit an uncharted reef, which they didn't see poking above the water. Now they're stuck on it. There's a hole in the ship. Disaster. How are they going to get off of there? What's going to happen are going to be able to make their delivery? Luckily nearby Aquaman on top of Topo riding by telling him to calm down. He will free them from the reef. He jumps from Topo, starts swimming in a circle around the reef and the boat at supersonic speeds,

kicking up a wave big enough to push the boat off the reef.

They can make their delivery.

They can patch the hole, hopefully.

Problem is, some of the cargo fell out.

In fact, a sealed carton from the ship right in front of Aquaman, right there, it breaks totally loose.

The whole thing falls apart, and a chemical starts leaking out of the cargo, which freaks

Aquaman out because he's always concerned about contaminants in the ocean.

And next thing we know, it is Jefferson airplane time.

His Aquaman's starting to get woozy.

He's blacking out from whatever the chemical

is. It's touched him. It's making him go mad. It's, you know, opening the mind's eye. And he

passes up, but not before he quickly yells for Topo to help him. So we see him wake up on a beach.

Topo having lovingly dragged him from the water on to a nearby island.

And now a sudden it's certain to come together for Aquaman. He was reading his newest issue of

cargo and chemical magazine, a supplement to his seawater digest that he gets. It's a new chemical.

When it touches somebody, it makes them allergic to the salt

in seawater. Why anyone would want that? Nobody knows. No need to explain it. This was a time

when you just shipped chemicals. You just made a chemical that did something and you sent it to
