At the 2015 Paris Climate Talks,

as delegates from almost 200 nations edged closer to an historic agreement,

they likely paid little attention to the lighting.

But Laurence Tubiana, France's climate ambassador,

had spent many hours thinking carefully about it.

A soft, gentle glow cast by elegantly curved table lamps in each of the work spaces.

That would be crucial, she said, to making people feel comfortable.

For Lawrence, the food was vital too.

The fair at previous UN climate gatherings

was so bad that delegates had been known to smuggle in their own. So this time, cafes and

restaurants were on hand to serve up French classics like Poulet-en-Persiades and Tarto Chocolat,

all accompanied by the best French wines.

And the sprawling convention centre in which the talks took place,

well, it was pumped full of the smells of warm croissant and baguette

from the in-house bakery.
