But it turns out there's one more way to go wrong an etiquette expert named Alice Allison

at Sheppardak says that if you're congratulating couples on the future nuptials, you're being rude.

I'm going to a wedding this weekend and I will not be saying congratulations to the ride or the groom.

And the reason for this is because traditional etiquette used to suggest that you would say

congratulations to the groom but not to the bride.

Because to say congratulations to the bride was to say that you are surprised that she found someone who wants to love her

for every day of the rest of her life and I think in today's day and age is

appropriate to say the same thing to both genders to not treat people differently.

So I just say things like I might take best wishes or I might say something like

I'm so happy for you or so over the mood excited for you too.

Clearly she has been out of the dating game for a while because if you are finding

someone that for a lifetime says they're going to treat you well

that is an accomplishment so I will be saying congratulations from henceforth.
