All right, Dakota, at 508, we'll drink and toast with a show of the day.

0:02.8

And we do have your headlines on the way of 550.

0:05.1

But first quick check on Mike Hawk and some of the stories and headlines he is not working on. Well, thank you, Miles. Colleges are finding that small obstacles have contributed to some students, quote-unquote, stopping out. What are the small obstacles? A handful of just life events. Sometimes it's missing a payment on a student loan that has then sidelined them.

0:22.7

It's, you know, a family death or something like that that has distracted them long enough. You know, now they have to go pick up responsibilities elsewhere that... Also, the cost of housing is more expensive than the cost of the education. So depending on when you're living and what the rent is, like, look, you could go to a great school here in Seattle, but you have to pay to live here. Right. Right. You know, you could go to Seattle Civic or whatever. It's expensive school. UDub is a great school to get into. You still have to afford to live here. Right. I kind of hope my kids don't get into a good school. Yeah. You just look at the cost. Like, your daughter is, what, Georgetown?

0:55.1

Yeah, but they're trying to, they're trying to, she's in a master's program. That's a couple years. They're trying to squeeze it down. So I only have to do two years of rent, which is better than four years of rent, which is why a lot of these universities are trying to get their bachelor's programs down to three years.

1:09.5

Just based on the fact that it's the housing that's unattainable, the food, the rent, all those, you know, the bills, all that crap. And that's kind of where the study came from is that there was too many, too many students that were dropping out, not because they were flunking out, not because they didn't want to do it anymore. It's just that they were stopping out.

1:27.7

There were things that got in the way and half of it was cost. They're like, how do we get people to re-enroll? Your main priority needs to be getting good grades in that situation. You're paying for it. Yeah. Right. So you need to take the time to invest in studying. A five-hour part-time job in the evening is what you really need, but you're going nonstop.

1:44.4

You know, you're waking up at 8 o'clock in the morning.

1:45.8

You're not getting home at 9.

1:46.8

Yeah.

1:47.3

You know, you're going nonstop.

1:44.4

You know, you're waking up at 8 o'clock in the morning. You're not getting home at nine. Yeah. You know, you're making certain cases, $8 an hour depending on the state you're in. So, yeah, it's unattainable. Yeah. And it's a rip-off. I mean, they did a 10-year study to figure out why tuition went up every year. 10 years study. Their conclusion

2:01.1

was that because they can.

2:03.1

Right. Because you anticipate the college 10-year study to figure out why tuition went up every year, 10-year study. Their conclusion

2:01.1

was that because they can't. Right. Because you anticipate the college is going to be remarkably

2:06.2

expensive. It doesn't hurt them to keep jacking it up just because you expect them to, but there

2:10.6

was no discernible financial reason for them to do it. Yay. A nail polish remover has been

2:17.2

recalled due to the detection of chloroform. How did they discover? Like somebody smelling their fingers and pass out? That stuff already smells potent enough. Yeah, right? I mean, is chloroform part of nail polish remover anyway and there's too much? Or is just suddenly there's chloroform you know what I see what you're saying

2:36.8

right like an ingredient that's already in nail polish but they just kind of overdid it or it shouldn't be right at all you have a five bedroom house you could walk in here you got a mansion you got a foyer you got a huge ass staircase going up you If your daughter is up in the corner bedroom with nail polish remover, you can smell it as soon as you walk in the front door.

2:52.0

That's what I'm saying. That stuff is so powerful. Right. your daughter is up in the corner bedroom with nail polish remover, you can smell it as soon as you walk in the front door.

2:52.0

That's what I'm saying. That stuff is so powerful. Right.

2:55.1

So I'm wondering if there is just an ingredient in there that makes it nail
