Yes indeed, and today we've to toast 47 year old Richard Plodd of somewhere in France.

Now, Richard had a goal. He wanted to get the Guinness World Record

for the tallest Eiffel Tower replica made entirely of match states. Now a guy from

Lebanon he actually had the record back in 2009 when he built a 21-foot-tall

Matstake Eiffel Tower, but our man was determined to best that.

So starting in 2015, Richard spent the next eight years, painstakingly

gluing 706,900 matchstakes into 402 panels that he then assembled into a 23 and a

half foot tall Eiffel Tower. So a picture of it, it's actually really impressive.

Now he estimates that he put about 4,200 hours of work

into it and it actually would have taken him longer but he ended up convincing a

local match stickmaker to provide him with a huge supply of headless matches because removing

the flammable match heads was very time consuming. Well sadly that was his

downfall. Guinness rejected his life of tower because he didn't use quote consumer I'm sorry

commercially available match sticks.
