This is the story of Carly Matheson, a girl who was really into the idea of catching a leprechaun

until she wasn't.

Every year in March, Carly's school held a big competition to see who could design the best leprecon trap.

And every year, Carly went all out. Like, really went all out.

She wasn't just using string, cardboard, and glitter glue.

Carly would spend all of her savings on the best materials and best people

for the job. Engineers, project managers, and lepricon experts were always called in to join her team.

And sure enough, Carly always won first prize. But first prize wasn't what Carly was after. She just

wanted to catch a leprechaun, and not once had any of her fancy traps ever made that

happen. So in Carly's fifth grade year, she was ready to throw in the towel. While the principal was

going over trap guidelines at the Catch a Lepricon Kickoff Assembly, everyone looked to Carly,

wondering what marvelous piece of machinery she might come up with this year.

Hey, Curley, will this be the year you finally catch one?

It most certainly will not, because I refuse to participate in the silly contest anymore.
