| 0:49.0 | These two things seem to be in separate camps, but truly it is the health of our brain that is dictating our mental health. |
| 0:56.0 | And as you know, mental health issues have skyrocketed in recent decades. |
| 1:01.0 | But in particular, these last couple of years, they've reached epidemic proportions. |
| 1:06.0 | And when we're suffering, when we're struggling with our mental health, we're looking for outlets. |
| 1:11.0 | And oftentimes in our culture, we're leaning towards, or going straight towards, pharmaceutical drugs, and or illicit drugs. |
| 1:20.0 | And illicit drug use has hit epidemic proportions as well. |
| 1:26.0 | As you know, as we've talked about here in the model health show recently, since 2015, we had about 50,000 drug overdose deaths in 2015. |
| 1:34.0 | But in 2020, that number doubled. |
| 1:38.0 | We had about 100,000 people, 100,000 of our citizens died from overdoses from illicit drugs, namely from opioids. |
| 1:49.0 | And namely from fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, which is now the leading cause of death for people between the age of 18 and 45. |
| 1:59.0 | These are what are considered to be our prime of life years and the leading cause of death. |
| 2:03.0 | Contrary to popular belief, it's not COVID, it's not heart disease. |
