| 0:47.0 | In 2015, for example, there were approximately 50,000 drug overdoses. |
| 0:52.0 | In 2021, the number of deaths from overdoses hit a record of nearly 100,000 people. |
| 0:59.0 | And by far, the drugs that have been ending the most lives are opioids and synthetic opioids. |
| 1:07.0 | Now, how bad is this problem in the context of what we're dealing with right now, |
| 1:13.0 | nationwide worldwide, pandemic? Well, a recent report published just this week has confirmed that |
| 1:19.0 | fentanyl, a synthetic opioid drug, is now the leading cause of death for Americans between the ages of 18 and 45. |
| 1:30.0 | This is now the number one cause of death for people who are in this category of prime of life years, |
| 1:39.0 | between the ages of 18 and 45. |
| 1:42.0 | This is now the number one cause of death. |
| 1:45.0 | To put this in context, in 2020 and 2021, there were more deaths from fentanyl than from heart disease and COVID combined. |
| 1:55.0 | In fact, there were thousands more deaths from fentanyl than from COVID and heart disease combined. |
