Welcome to The Model Health Show. This is Fitness and Nutrition Expert, Sean Stevenson,

0:15.1

and I'm so grateful for you tuning in with me today. This is an episode on the heart.

0:21.3

It's obviously one of the most important organs in our bodies, but the degree to which we

0:27.6

understand the human heart and all the things that is connected to is still covered in a lot of

0:33.8

mystery and it's also something that's wildly misunderstood. Now, we have a couple of big problems

1:39.7

every year. That's one out of every four deaths is due to heart disease. Coronary heart disease

1:46.8

is actually the most common type of heart disease, which kills about 366,000 people every single year.

1:53.3

Now in coronary heart disease, the arteries carrying blood to the heart become lined with plaque.

2:00.0

And this plaque causes the arteries to narrow so that less oxygen is actually able to reach the heart

2:05.9

and so the heart begins to malfunction. And when the heart doesn't receive enough oxygen,
