forward to getting into our broader conversation for today about immigration detention and in particular discussing

how the Biden administration has dropped the ball on its promises to end the Trump-era

usage of an obscure public health law called Title 42 and the pandemic to further pre-existing

anti-immigrant agendas. But before we get into that, for those who are not

familiar with your work, can you briefly explain what your background is silky and what your work

is with Detention Watch Network and also what DWN does and what the purpose is?

Yeah, sure. So I am the executive director of Detention Watch Network, but I'm an organizer. I've been working on issues related to immigration, racial justice, the prison industrial complex for almost 20 years now. And, you know, Detention Watch Network has actually been around. It's our 25th anniversary this year. We've been around since the passage of the

1996 laws, which really sort of shifted the paradigm on immigration and led to much more

detention and deportation. And so we're a broad membership coalition. We've shifted a lot over the

years, but we have like a base of grassroots organizations,
