Summary

Time in does not equate to produced results.

Here's what most people do.

They start working in their profession for 6 months and 10 years later, the only thing they have is repeating the same thing they learned in the first 6 months of their career.

They stop growing.

I go to the gym with people who have been going to the gym for 8 years and are still fat and out of shape.

Sure, they still make it to the gym, but they have not ascended to learning more, eating better, and getting in better shape 8 years later.

That's what most people do.

I have a young lady that works on my finance team and she's been working in her field for 2 years, but has done more for me in the last 6 months than those I've hired in the past with 20 years experience.

It's because she is learning and growing herself in her profession every single day.

So, before you work with someone who claims to have 10, 15, 20 years experience, have them take you through every element of their journey in their profession and ask for the receipts.

It's a problem. And I just need to clarify this with everybody out there that's an entrepreneur

0:32.6

or a salesperson or an expert at what, a so-called expert at what they do. We just got to clear the air

0:38.7

here, okay? I hear people all the time say, well, you know, I got 10 years experience, but they really

0:44.9

don't have 10 years experience. What they have is like six months experience repeated over and over for

0:51.3

a 10-year period of time. They stopped growing after six months.

0:52.2

We see this all the time. I remember when I was doing loans, I had a realtor coming to me, and she's like, I've been doing this for 20 years. Cool, what was your volume last year? I closed $2 million. Well, that's less than $200. That's less than a home a month. So in 20 years, you ain't figured out how to at least close a home in a month.

0:54.1

You don't have 20 years experience.

1:11.4

You have 20 years experience. You have 20 years in the field with about six months experience. I didn't tell her that because I'm trying to get the 10 homes a year that she does. But you get the point. A lot of people go around tout and how long they've been doing something, but it's a lot like driving. You know, like people maybe when they're 16,

1:11.9

they're horrible at driving. By the time they're 18, they never start driving. They never get better at driving. Driving's got to be the only fucking thing that people do their whole life and never get better at. Someone my age, 45 years old, we should be able to drive F1 and be able to handle. We should be able to drift people on NASCAR. We've got so much experience behind the wheel. But most people still can't figure out how to zip her into traffic. So here's the thing. I've got a young lady on my team on my financial team. And she's maybe got a couple of years in the corporate world and a few months in the entrepreneur world, but she's operating on 20 years

2:01.9

of experience. I've worked with people prior to her that have been in the business 10, 15 years,

2:07.0

that didn't know a fraction of what she knew because she's committed to becoming experience,

2:11.6

not how long I've been doing something, it's how much I know. And that's the real value
