| 0:11.8 | I'm Dale Johnson, and you're listening to Truth in Love, a podcast of the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, where we seek to provide biblical solutions for the problems |
| 0:22.0 | that people face. I'm excited this week that we have Dr. Stephen Yule to join us to talk about |
| 0:29.9 | the Puritans, the Physicians of the Soul. When we think about that term or that phrase, |
| 0:36.6 | Physicians of the Soul, it's hard in our modern context to really think about that term or that phrase, Physicians of the Soul, it's hard in our modern |
| 0:39.5 | context to really think about the role of a minister as a physician. |
| 0:44.8 | Dr. Ewell, can you just describe a little bit about how the Puritans took on that phrase |

| 1:47.6 | we act, the decisions we make, the dreams and the aspirations we have? And so they were very good |
| 1:53.6 | at diagnosing the problem and very clear on the fact that ultimately the problem resides |
| 1:59.7 | in the depravity of the human heart. |
| 2:03.6 | And then coupled with that, they were very, very good when it came to the remedy, prescribing |
| 2:08.6 | the remedy and the gospel, and what it means to be in union with Christ. |
| 2:15.3 | And so they were just experts at identifying the ailment, the problem, |
| 2:21.2 | and they excelled than at applying the gospel to the problem. Very unique in that way, |
| 2:29.1 | and something we could really learn from them today. Yeah, and one of the reasons we choose this topic, I've personally benefited so much from |
