Craig has promised to make changes to improve the department's performance. And yesterday

he sent a strong message by demoting the head of the Detroit police department's troubled

communications section. WDIV Steve Garajolo covered this story and explained what exactly

happened there. Problems with Detroit police communications have become clear. Within

the past two months, the entire system has failed twice and today chief Craig outlined

two incidents of unacceptable delays by 911 dispatch. Effective immediately, the commanding

officer, the communications operations section has been relieved of his command and reassigned
