0:34.0	numerous more were injured in a shooting at Appalachian High School in Winder, Georgia.
0:38.1	The shooter is reportedly a 14-year-old boy who is now in custody. Let's review Georgia's gun laws for a moment
0:44.9	though, shall we? Every town for gun safety ranks Georgia 46 out of 50 in terms of
0:49.8	gun safety, with 50 being the worst, with some of the weakest laws in the country.
0:54.8	They're also ranked 15th in terms of gun violence deaths, with one being the worst.
0:59.8	Miners are not allowed to legally possess firearms and individuals need to be 18 years old to purchase

1:06.0	So there was no way that this shooter was able to get a gun legally, but adults don't need a permit
1:10.6	to buy or carry a firearm,
1:12.8	nor do they need to register their guns with the state.
1:15.5	And in 2022, Georgia passed a permitless carry law
1:18.9	and actually repealed provisions that required residents
1:21.7	to obtain a license and be background checked before carrying
