0:25.7	The Core 4. The four headlines you need to know. It's time to officially say goodbye to murder
0:33.3	hornets. Yeah, they still exist. Scientists will set 1,000 traps to wipe out the Asian giant
0:39.6	hornet here in Washington State. They were first detected in 2019, and although the situation has
0:45.9	improved, there is more that needs to be done. Murder Hornets are super invasive and have the
0:51.3	ability to kill other bees, which we need to pollinate our crops,
0:55.5	among many other things. The murder hornet sting is very painful, and if a human is stung more
1:02.1	than once, it can result in death. Last year, scientists were able to eradicate three nests in
1:08.9	Blaine, Washington, which is super close to the Canadian border,
1:12.7	and there have been no confirmed reports of their nests this year.
1:16.6	The Washington State Department of Agriculture has launched a program called Adopt a Wasp
1:22.9	in order to help monitor murder-hornet activity.
1:26.7	Washington residents are encouraged to visit a website,
1:29.7	which gives you the location of paper wasp nests.
1:33.4	That's the nests of paper wasps.
1:35.8	And as an adopter, you'll monitor the nests weekly from June to October
1:40.2	to see if they're visited by hornets and then record the information online.
1:45.1	I don't know if I really want to sign up for this or if I want to run away from these nests.
