A few weeks ago, I had mentioned the Department of Homeland Security announced they would be launching a disinformation governance board whose purpose was to develop strategies to combat disinformation.

Well, three weeks into that project and the

government has announced there scrapping the idea. Although there was some support for the

government agency, as people did want to see less blatantly false information dominating our

political space, the idea was also questioned by a lot of people wondering if this would

result in the government

censoring ideas it didn't agree with and the possible infringement of constitutionally

protected free speech. Proponents of the disinformation board claim ultra right-wing media outlets

and politicians doomed the idea with a smear campaign before it could even hold its first

meeting. During the announcement, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said the disinformation

board had been, quote, grossly and intentionally mischaracterized it was never about

censorship or policing speech in any manner.

You can't go anywhere without hearing about the baby formula shortage, whether it's through moms in your life who are concerned, social media, or actually seeing the bare shelves at your grocery store. It's scary. But President Joe Biden has invoked the Defense Production Act to speed production of infant formula and authorized flights to import supply from overseas.

Biden has faced a ton of pressure over the baby formula shortage caused by the safety-related closure of the country's largest formula manufacturing plant.
