Guess who got to cancel work today?

The House of Representatives, that's who?

The reason for this cancellation is that police officials are warning of a possible plot

by a militia group to again storm the Capitol.

House Democratic leaders decided that the threat of violence was too significant to ignore,

and that lawmakers themselves didn't want to be in the building.

I'm sure you're wondering why this potential threat is arising tomorrow of all days.

And the reason for that would be that there's another QAnon conspiracy that alleges that

Donald Trump will actually be sworn in as the president today.

I mean, I think this could be a side effect of the insurrection going entirely unpunished

and actually being encouraged by some of our senators and representatives.

You know who you are, don't make me call you out.

While we're on this topic, why don't we go back to the original Capitol riot and the

continuing Senate testimony about what happened on January 6th.

Yesterday, Major General William Walker testified that he had national guard troops at the

ready on January 6th, and that they sat idly for over three hours before he was finally

given authorization to send them into the Capitol, and that the reason for the delay was

allegedly the optics of sending the troops in.

Because the optics of the Confederate flag inside the Capitol were just so much better.

Meanwhile, the first trial date for a defendant in the Capitol riot has finally been scheduled.
