It's Thursday, June 20th. Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

Number one, a heat wave will continue to bake much of the eastern U.S. today.

High temperatures will persist in the Midwest, northeast, and mid-Atlantic.

This heat is hitting early in the summer,

and that can make it more dangerous, because people aren't used to it yet.

More than a dozen states have issued heat alerts in the affected regions.

Officials are warning people to take precautions against heat illness, especially those without access to air conditioning.

Meanwhile, Texas is being hit by the first named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season.

Storm Alberto caused flooding rains and an ocean surge yesterday.

And experts are expecting a lot more storms this year. to be displayed in all public classrooms.

That's our second story.

This mandate applies to every public elementary,

secondary, and post-education school in the state.

Republican Governor Jeff Landry signed the law yesterday. He explained

why he supports the requirement. Because if you want to respect the rule of law

you got to start from the original law giver which was Moses.
